Another magical Bon Portage Island program complete! Despite a delay in arrival due to stormy seas, we had a fantastic time returning to Bon Portage this past week for our Intermediate Wildlife Conservation Level I Program! Participants got to hold and learn about the Island's iconic (and cute!) Leach's Storm Petrels, dissect carnivorous pitcher plants to find what types of prey were in their leaves, identify the difference between the mummichogs and killifish that live in the saltwater pond, ran various chemical tests on plastics that were retrieved from the shoreline, and more! Phew, all that in 2.5 days!
