Activities
This program is “under renovation”! This means that one or two of the activities listed below will likely be updated with more hands-on and STEM focused activities. We’ll be sure to update this program page once we know more.
- Taking a day trip to Kejimkujik Seaside Park, we’ll conduct real citizen science surveys of piping plovers (a bird) on the beach alongside Kejimkujik staff and explore the gorgeous beaches and tide pools
- Kayaking and canoeing, we’ll spend the morning paddling down the Mersey River to Nancy Cove Beach and doing a water quality monitoring activity there before returning
- Assisting Park staff with a survey of threatened Eastern ribbon snakes in a Kejimkujik wetland
- Hiking through the park and using apps to identify plants and fungi
- Stargazing at night in Keji’s Dark Sky Preserve
- Learning about gender equity in the STEM fields and why diversity is so important
- Learning about careers in wildlife biology and what it’s like to study wildlife conservation at college and university

Eligibility
This program is open to girls and under-represented genders ages 15-18 who live in the Maritime provinces (NB, NS, PEI). Participants from other areas are welcome to apply for our wait list.
How To Apply
Participants must be nominated by an adult that knows them well, including parents/guardians. The first round of nominations is open until May 9th, after which nominations are accepted on a rolling basis.
